EJOT fastening technology for the aviation industry
Insert and fastener solutions
for aircraft interior
Fastening and joining technology is an important part of the development of products and components for the aerospace industry and it often also shows the possibilities and the limits of engineering design. Motivated by the trend for lightweight automotive construction, EJOT started right at this point and developed special fastening solutions for lightweight construction applications for aircraft interior.
The main focus is on the realization of attachment points in lightweight sandwich materials. Potted-in inserts are usually the standard option. However, such fastening technologies are very time-consuming in the component preparation and require a complex installation process. With the TSSD® this process can be fully automated and significantly shortened. With the thermal adhesive bonding boss the necessary process steps can be reduced to one single joining process. In addition, significant weight savings per joint can be achieved with the use of the TSSD®.
In addition to the TSSD® technology, EJOT also offers a special product portfolio for direct fastening into plastic and metal for the increasing automation of aircraft production. No threaded inserts or similar are required for this. Due to the large number of joints required for the interior, this can make a significant contribution to reducing weight. Various assembly steps can also be saved in production with the self-tapping screws from EJOT, since no component preparations are necessary. Overall, fewer manual steps are required, which means that automation concepts can be implemented more easily.
